Come and experience the thrill of fly fishing in New Zealand with some of the best wild trout waters on offer. My name is Arran Hopkinson, I have fished the Eastern Bay of Plenty Region since the mid 1980's and have a comprehensive knowledge and respect for the tributaries and lakes of the Rangitaiki River. Sharing the thrills of my region has long been a passion of mine.

With a farm on the banks of the Rangitaiki River, situated in the Galatea Valley, I have river access for fly fishing and drifts for the many kilometres that take you to the Aniwhenua Dam. This dam in the past has produced both trophy rainbow trout and brown trout into the double figures and can be productive throughout the day.

Whether it be stalking lazy browns with a dry fly, from a small dun to a large terrestroid, or fighting wild rainbows in shallow riffles, I can present it all. Our back country fishing offers four wheel drive access to bush fed streams opening a world of opportunity to the fly fisherman.

Lakes Matahina, Flaxy, Aniwhenua and the Rangitaiki River downstream of the Otamatea Stream confluence have an open all year season.

I run half day, full day or multi day trips. There is a three bedroom self catering cottage available with a life time of fishing at your doorstep. Come and be a part of the wild trout guides experience.
